Job Description

Our client located in Toronto, ON is currently seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist responsible to promote a culture of Quality within the organization, provides leadership and guidance in respect to Quality Assurance issues to Engineering, Industry & Supply Chain and Services. QAMs are allocated to manage Quality on a bid, a project or a product and to support all Disciplines and underlying processes. The QAM represents the Quality authority ensuring that the level of quality provides value and satisfaction to customers.

Main missions are:

Ensure that the technical and non-technical requirements of the Customer are recorded, understood and managed efficiently by all members of the bid/project team. Ensure that the project deliverables comply with the Customer's requirements and with the applicable regulations and standards. Adjust Quality Assurance activities with a risk-driven mindset, anticipating risks, taking into account the maturity of the Bid/Project team, and focusing on core Quality value-added activities. Support the product, bid and project teams in applying processes, proactively identifying risks and resolving problems. Verify the execution of the project (in relation to the plans): evaluate achievements at key milestones and deliverables, and provide visibility through "Quality Advice". Provide visibility to the management and alert when necessary; raise a veto in case of non-compliance not properly addressed or in case of a critical event/situation generating a major risk for the bid/project/product or for the company. Liaise with the Customer's Quality representative during the bid phase and contract execution.

This will be a day shift position (total 40 hours per week).

Pay rate will be $35- $40/hr. (100% onsite position)

Starting ASAP (6 months contract)

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

On a product line: 

Verify the involvement of all relevant stakeholders and assure the implementation of clear governance rules for product line management. Evaluate the product life cycle synchronization periods and assure that all critical steps have been executed before each decision milestone. Assure that the products meet the technical / non-technical requirements / quality standards and that the product line team addresses the relevant action plans.

On a bid:

Contribute to the framing of the bid, the tailoring of the bid baseline, verify the involvement of all stakeholders and assure the implementation of clear governance rules. Evaluate the bid preparation, assure that all critical steps, decisions and actions have been executed before each decision milestone, including actions to mitigate risks and foresees the opportunities. Assure the implementation or planning of actions to mitigate the risks and seize the opportunities on sub-contracted work packages. Define the Quality Assurance part of the offer.

On a project:

Assure that the concerns of customers are appropriately captured, understood and efficiently and effectively handled by the project team. Cascade and/or manage the Quality Assurance requirements. Guide the project team in the definition and tailoring of the project baseline and validate the resulting plans. Assure the implementation or planning of actions to mitigate the risks and seize the opportunities on sub-contracted work packages. RequirementsMinimum B.S Computer Science/Electrical/Mechanical/Computer Engineering or equivalent. 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Engineering System/Software development or Quality Assurance Specialist or Manager in a technology or manufacturing setting. Must to have a solid understanding of general QA practices and procedures, Quality Management System. Ability to conduct investigations and Root Cause Analysis across multiple disciplines (System, Software, Hardware, PMO….). Perform compliance assessment for Contractual Quality Assurance requirements. Prepare the Bid/Project Quality Assurance Plans. Prepare Quality Assurance estimates for the bid and perform documentation review as per bid submittal requirements. Participate in Bid Gates/milestones review meetings and prepare Quality input and assessment (Bid Q advice). Attend Project milestones review meetings and provide the Quality input and assessment (Project Q advice). Prepare Quality Training plan and training material, organize and deliver training sessions to the project team as required. Guide the project team in the definition and tailoring of the project process baseline. Prepare Quality Management Reports and prepare and conduct Quality Readiness Review. Participate in Safety Case review and Safety Certification Readiness Review. Support Customer witnessed First Article Inspection FAI and First Article Test FAT (if required by the contract). Perform Quality Assurance approval for various projects artefacts as specified in the respective processes. Prepare monthly reports on project health status to Project Manager. Perform engineering artefacts maturity audits. Record and analyze Quality findings to identify trends or issues to address. Participate in Continuous Improvement Actions working with Maturity Leaders. Conduct Root Cause Analyses as required in conjunction with the other discipline groups (engineering, Safety, PMO…). Participate in Lesson Learned and Risk Review meetings, ensure process adherence and evidence for compliance is available. Perform Site Quality Assurance Audit. Support Customer audits and perform internal In-Process audit (if required by contract). Assure that the concerns of customers are captured, understood and efficiently and effectively handled by the project team. Support the Maturity Leads and Discipline Process Owner(s) to ensure that processes are implemented in a uniform manner and the required level of competence is present across the respective teams. Identifies trends and alerts relative to identified problems, makes sure that action plans are implemented in a timely manner and assess their efficiency. Also required are excellent problem solving, written, verbal and communication skills. Hands-on Engineering System/Software development or Quality Assurance in complex System environment with certification constraints (Transportation, Avionic, Nuclear, Cybersecurity). Knowledge of Transportation domain / CBTC system is an asset. ASQ Certification (CQE, CQA…) Technical/Specialized Knowledge:              CENELEC/AREMA/IEEE standards ISO 9001 Project Lifecycle and Deployment Product Lifecycle System/SW/HW lifecycle CMMI Process Improvement Training or background (Six Sigma, DMAIC, …)
