Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Manager to oversee and maintain our Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all food safety standards and lead initiatives to improve product quality and safety within our production environment.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure the company maintains Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs, including microbiological testing and HACCP programs.Implement corrective action initiatives to resolve food safety issues promptly, minimizing customer risk and production downtime.Oversee the pre-operation inspection process for ingredients and packaging, ensuring all standards are met before production.Schedule, lead, and document all internal, vendor, USDA, FDA, and other third-party audits.Serve as the primary quality control resource in the factory for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.Manage the training and development of team members on sanitation, microbiology, pest control, allergen management, HACCP, and GMP.Develop analytics on quality issues and trends for reporting to management.Manage internal control samples, testing, and record-keeping to ensure completeness.Evaluate and improve QA SOPs, policies, and improvement activities.Perform sampling of incoming raw products, finished products, and plant environment for safety and quality.Oversee compliant labeling and nutritional data initiatives.Support investigation of customer quality concerns and review COAs and testing results before product release.Develop strategies to effectively control the quality of the company's products.Oversee proper company and vendor-managed warehousing procedures, including cold-store management.Lead and manage the QA department, including supervisors, technicians, and document control staff.Own and continuously improve SQF certification and Food Safety Programs.Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, allergen control, and sanitation standards.Oversee customer audits, third-party inspections, and regulatory reviews.Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).Analyze QA data and trends to recommend operational improvements.Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Production, and Supply Chain.Essential SkillsCertification in HACCP, PCQI, FSMA, GFSI schemes (SQF, ISO, BRC, etc.) required.5+ years of experience in quality, compliance, or regulatory roles within a food, confectionary, or beverage company.BS degree in food science, chemistry, or other related technical field.Strong attention to detail and highly developed organizational skills.Working knowledge of HACCP, SQF Internal Auditing, SOP’s creation, GMPs, FDA/USDA regulations.Strong leadership and project management skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Spanish is a plus.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems is a plus.Additional Skills & QualificationsPassion for food safety and quality, and experience working in a team environment.Strong knowledge of FDA/USDA regulations.Proven ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional projects.SQF Practitioner or PCQI certification preferred.Work Environment
The role involves working in an office, production, and warehouse setting. The candidate must be able to bend and lift up to 30 pounds repetitively, stand and/or sit for extended periods, and handle exposure to varying temperatures, including freezing conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires repetitive use of hands and the ability to push, pull, squat, bend, and reach above and below shoulders.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
