Quality Assurance Engineer

These markets include aerospace and defense, factory automation, air and water quality environmental monitoring, electronics design and development, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, medical imaging and pharmaceutical research.​ We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins. **Job Description** QA Engineer: Designs, implements and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products. Responsible for planning, implementing and managing compliance of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external safety, quality and regulatory standards requirements for worldwide distribution. Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment and finished products. Performs analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary. May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards (i.e. GLP, GMP, ISO, Six Sigma). The essential functions and key responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to: + Provide technical support and assist in resolution of manufacturing problems, as required. + Assist manufacturing operations to quickly and permanently resolve quality issues as they arise. + Review quality trends to determine root cause, institute corrective actions, and verify effectiveness of implemented corrective actions. + Review and approve recommended nonconformance dispositions; evaluate non-conformance trends, for recommendations and improvements. + Take a lead role in completing preventive and corrective actions, for both internal and external customer issues, using effective engineering judgment and appropriate root cause analysis tools. Confirm whether the implementation of preventive and corrective action is effective and sustained. + Review and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECO) applicable to product line responsibilities. + Participate in Material Review Board by reviewing nonconforming parts and proposed dispositions. + Support the development and launch of new products through effective and proactive product quality planning. + Plan, oversee and analyze process capability studies and gage repeatability & reproducibility (GR&R) studies. + Provide technical support via direct communication to sales, marketing, and customers. + Interface with customers and suppliers on quality issues. Coordinate containment and improvement actions to resolve issues in a timely manner. + Participates in conversation with customers and suppliers on specific issues related to product and process. + Perform internal Quality Management System and process audits. + Support external AS9100 Quality Management System audits. + Develop standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of product and process. + Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) per customer contract and/ or source control drawing requirements. Work to verify compliance, resolve issues, and document results in AS9102 required format. + Advanced Quality Planning (AS9145) activities including development and on-going assessment of process failure modes and effects analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans. + May be required to evaluate the capability and performance of new and existing suppliers through on-site audits and assessments. + Travel “as required” to customer site(s) to provide technical support and training. **Job Requirements** + Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related discipline + 3 - 5 years of experience + Ability to work independently to resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction and work as part of a team. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Ability to effectively interface with different departments within the company. + Background in Quality Tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC) + Experience within an AS9100-certified organization a plus + Occasional domestic and international travel may be required Teledyne and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
