Quality Assurance Engineer, Alexa Daily Essentials
Amazon.com
Alexa+ is Amazon's next-generation, generative AI-powered assistant that offers smarter, more natural, and context-aware interactions. It handles multi-step requests, learns user habits, and integrates with third-party services — moving far beyond simple voice commands. Alexa+ is accessible across Echo devices, the Alexa app, and the web.
The Alexa Daily Essentials (ADE) QA Organization leads quality assurance, test automation, and tool development for the Alexa domains customers depend on most — including Timers, Alarms, Reminders, Calendar, Food, News, Memory, CAM, and Hand-off to Alexa.
We are looking for a motivated Quality Assurance Engineer I (QAE I) to help ensure the quality of these essential Alexa+ experiences. You will create and execute test plans, build and maintain test automation, perform defect triage, and help validate generative AI-powered features where responses are dynamic, conversations are multi-turn, and the assistant proactively anticipates customer needs. You'll contribute to our automation-first culture by leveraging AI-assisted testing tools and identifying opportunities to automate repetitive tasks.
If you're passionate about product quality, excited about the intersection of AI and quality engineering, and want to build the technology behind the smartest Alexa ever — this is the job for you!
Key job responsibilities
• Create and execute test plans and test cases for product components and features across ADE domains.
• Validate Alexa+ generative AI-powered features, including multi-step requests, context-aware conversations, proactive assistance, and third-party service integrations across devices, app, and web.
• Create, maintain, and extend test automation scripts to accommodate feature releases.
• Identify manual, repetitive tasks that can be automated and build simple scripts or tools to improve efficiency.
• Leverage AI-assisted testing tools adopted by the team to improve test coverage and accelerate execution.
• Perform initial defect triage and root cause analysis; troubleshoot and isolate bugs using log files and traces.
• Participate in defect triage, test planning, scoping, and prioritization discussions.
• Analyze test results, contribute to test metrics/reports, and assess product stability and launch readiness.
• Measure quality, identify inefficiencies, and recommend process improvements
• Clearly document your work; provide constructive feedback on tests created by others.
• Help ramp up new team members on procedures and testing processes.
• Escalate roadblocks and risks in a timely manner; take ownership of problems and drive resolution.
