Job Description:At Regions, the Quality Assurance and Performance Architect oversees overall Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Architecture strategy. This position is responsible for the ongoing implementation of QA and performance architecture across all technical layers to increase quality and performance in our infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities
Collaborates with team leaders and other architects to develop end-to-end QA strategies and protocols for various applications and platformsServes as a subject-matter expert (SME) on methods of integrating testing best practices into the application development lifecycle to successfully reduce friction, identify potential problems early, and improve cross-collaborationDevelops and maintains testing automation processes in alignment with Regions’ standards and toolsResearches Artificial Intelligence (AI) including machine language (ML), robotics, and other advanced and emerging technologies to improve automation efficiency and analyticsParticipates in program increment (PI) and sprint planningProvides direction and technical guidance to select proper framework, tools, setup, and strategies for performance architectureStays abreast of latest trends in Testing Automation industry, and recommends ways to improve efficiency, speed, and reduce cost through research and innovationCreates tools and components for improving testing automation speed and effectivenessMatures and evolves test architecture through the evaluation and adoption of new automation tools, techniques, and practicesGuides, leads, and influences teams in developing technical understanding and skillset through knowledge sharing sessionsThis position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and six (6) years of Performance Engineering experience with two (2) of those years working as Performance Architect, Application Architect, Solution Architect on high-traffic, large-scale distributed systems, client-server architectures, on-prem and cloudPreferences
Extensive experience with application architecture, design, capacity planning, and application performance best practicesExperience with open source load testing tools such as Apache JMeter, httperf and APM, infrastructure monitoring tools like SplunkExperience with SQL/NoSQL databases – querying, profiling and performance tuningExtended experience in Structured Query Language (SQL), C, C++, C# or Java programming, and automated testing methodologiesExperience with public cloud (AWS), distributed system, and microservices architectureGood understanding of mobile app (Android and iOS) and web technology stack (HTTP, REST, HTML, JavaScript, CSS)Infrastructure as code toolsets - Puppet, Terraform, Packer, Consul, VaultUnderstanding of On Prem to Cloud evolutionSkills and Competencies
Ability to dissect multi-tiered systems and track data flow throughout an entire application stackExperience with other tools and frameworks such as HP LoadRunner, Splunk, Fiddler, Dynatrace, JMeter, Hammer, Performance CenterKnowledge of application scalability and performance tuning (Web-based, n-tier, MQ, CICS)In-depth understanding of application architecture, design, capacity planning, and application performance best practicesIn-depth understanding of performance analysis and testing processesKnowledge of application scalability and performance tuning (Web-based, n-tier, MQ, CICS)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and document performance measures and outcomes to diverse audiences (technical, business, etc.) and drive decisions through collaboration

This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to Birmingham, AL.

Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role.
