Job Description
We are seeking a diligent Quality Analyst I to join a leading food and beverage company headquartered in Central Ohio. You will play a crucial role in ensuring product excellence by collecting and testing samples of ingredients, products, and packages according to established procedures.
ResponsibilitiesCollect and test samples of ingredients, products, or packages according to established procedures.Conduct tests including pH, viscosity, titrations, product color via colorimeter, density, acid, salt, and sensory evaluation of product taste, aroma, and appearance versus control sample.Perform quality checks on the production floor, including verifying the accuracy of unit codes and case codes, proper application of labels, weighing samples, metal detector checks, and conducting periodic inspections for sanitary conditions.Monitor processes to ensure they are operating correctly and consistently.Document all results neatly and precisely.Label and maintain product retention samples used to monitor the product throughout its shelf life.Organize collected data for management review.Maintain lab equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.Communicate non-compliant results immediately to management.Monitor plant for compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).Accurately weigh ingredients, colors, flavorings, and seasonings.Test R&D samples for food safety and specification development.Conduct other duties as assigned by the plant QA Supervisor or QA Manager.Essential SkillsProficiency in wet chemistry.Experience in quality control and quality assurance.Knowledge of GMPs.Additional Skills & QualificationsAS or BS in Science or non-degreed with one year of wet chemistry lab experience.Work Environment
The lab environment is loud with strong food smells, fostering a team-oriented and family-like culture. The lab is small, with collaboration alongside a few other technicians, reporting to a supervisor. The dress code is casual, typically a t-shirt and jeans, with a lab coat provided upon hiring. Jewelry, watches, false eyelashes, fingernail polish, plastic bobby pins, or similar items are not permitted.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
