The Quality Control Scientist I is responsible for performing lab testing and troubleshooting results with a cross-functional team while fostering safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost savings daily with the QC team.
A Day in the Life:
Plans and performs quality control testing of reagents and kits through various testing methods such as next-generation sequencing and purification on the Genexus platform.Follow good laboratory practices and cGMPAssist with Out of Specification investigations as appropriateAssist with updating QC testing methods, SOPs, and batch record forms to align with current laboratory practices and improvementsMaintain a team-first mentality and communicate effectivelySupport product development programs, method validation, etc.Initiates problem reporting (deviations, non-conformances, failures, corrective and preventive actions) via TrackWise and assists with root cause investigation/analysis for OOSPerform peer review of QC data packetsEnsure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourcedSupports, adopts, and promotes the Thermo Fisher 4 I values – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and InvolvementHelp maintain the Quality Control laboratory in a safe, tidy, and efficient condition and ensure safe working practices are followedKeys to Success:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related degree preferred.1+ year relevant industry experience preferred (equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience may be considered).Skilled in basic molecular biology and/or analytical chemical testing.Good pipetting technique.Experience with Next Gen Sequencing.Experience in participating in problem notifications, CAPA, Out of Specification investigations, etc.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of general cGMP lab compliance.Strong quality-first approach.Ability to perform independently & as part of a team.Ability to work in a multifaceted, fast-paced team environment.Excellent communication/interpersonal and presentation skills.Experience writing & reviewing technical documentation.Knowledge of the 5S system and process improvements.Benefits:

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $53,300.00–$79,925.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
