Role Overview
Conduct thorough inspections of welds and welding processes to ensure compliance with applicable WPS/PQR, codes, standards, and specifications. Perform welding inspections before, during, and after as per ISO 3834-2 requirements. Utilize advanced inspection techniques including visual, ultrasonic, PAUT, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant inspection, and radiographic testing. Interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR) to validate conformance at site during production. Inspect incoming production materials against requirements and mill certificates. Participate in root cause analysis for welding defects and collaborate on corrective action plans. Identify and raise comments on deviations or quality issues related to welding that could affect equipment during fabrication and installation. Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation for compliance on a weekly basis. Collaborate with Company Site Representatives and material engineers on welding/NDT/material issues at site. Stop work in case of non-conformity and re-assess the situation before resuming. Discuss issues/unconformities with contractors/sub-contractors to find acceptable solutions without penalizing delivery schedules. Ensure timely closure of unconformities without impacting delivery schedules. Follow up on site welding activities and provide feedback to the project team. Participate in audits and follow up on closure of identified issues.Skills & Qualifications
HSSE compliance and awareness. Agile leadership skills. Fluent in English; Spanish or French is a plus. Welding inspection knowledge, particularly in CRA materials such as Super Duplex, Inconel 625, and LAS F22. Advanced inspection techniques including visual, ultrasonic, PAUT, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant inspection, and radiographic testing. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex quality issues.Education & Experience
15+ years of experience in welding inspection with a strong understanding of welding processes and techniques. Certification as a Welding Inspector (CWI) from a recognized body; CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 or equivalent. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certifications: level 3 (UT & PAUT, RT, DPI).
