Airswift is currently seeking a highly experienced QA/QC ENGINEER (MECHANICAL) to join a leading Oil & Gas company in Qatar for a major solar project.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized university. IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor. Valid certifications in: Welding Inspection (CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI) Painting Inspection (BGAS Grade 2 / NACE Level 2) NDT Level 2 in RT, MT, UT, and PT (ASNT/ACCP) — mandatory. Advanced certifications such as IIW-Welding Engineer, NDT Level 3, or advanced NDT (e.g., PAUT, TOFD, Auto UT) are advantageous. Professional memberships or affiliations with ASNT, AWS, TWI, NACE, ASQ-CMQ&OE, MCQI-CQP, or similar organizations are desirable. Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in major Greenfield/Brownfield process plant construction in the Oil & Gas industry, including large-scale solar (Photovoltaic) projects. Prior experience with major EPIC contractors or end-user organizations in a similar capacity, with full responsibility for QA/QC in piping and mechanical disciplines, including construction and commissioning activities. Strong knowledge of QA/QC practices, testing requirements, and acceptance criteria for piping systems, rotating/static equipment, and related systems. Proficient in applying international codes and standards such as ASME, TEMA, ASTM, API, ISO, AWS, BS EN, NACE, IOGP, Shell DEP, and MESC specs. Experienced in planning, reviewing, and approving Quality Plans, ITPs, QCPs, MARs, and related inspection procedures (welding, NDT, heat treatment, painting, etc.). Expertise in inspection/testing of: Structural fabrication Piping and pipeline prefabrication Field installation of static/rotating equipment (e.g., vessels, exchangers, tanks, pumps, compressors, and package equipment) Testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities Skilled in managing teams of discipline inspectors, coordinating inspections/testing, and monitoring KPIs. Proficient in implementing Quality Surveillance Programs, Completion Management Systems (CMS), ITRs, Technical Integrity Verification (TIV), Flawless Project Delivery (FPD), and Project Quality Health Check (PQHC). Able to conduct QMS and technical compliance audits, quality walkthroughs, and supplier/contractor pre-qualification. Strong problem-solving skills for complex QA/QC challenges and disputes involving interpretation of project requirements. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Support contractors in the preparation and timely submission of QA/QC documents including ITPs, QCPs, welding/NDT/HT/painting procedures, and MARs. Assist the functional supervisor in reviewing and approving QMS, engineering, and procurement documents, and help resolve discipline-related issues. Ensure project QA/QC requirements are properly implemented at construction sites and at vendor/subcontractor facilities, in line with specifications and standards. Organize and participate in Pre-Activity Review meetings, QA walkthroughs, and weekly QA/QC coordination meetings. Conduct surveillance and inspection of fabrication, erection, and associated mechanical works (on-site and off-site), including: Surface preparation and coating/painting Welding and NDT Equipment installation and pressure testing Identify and resolve non-conformities through corrective and preventive actions. Raise NCRs for repeated or major quality issues and follow up on RCA and close-out. Track and verify Material Test Certificates and construction record traceability. Monitor Preservation Management Systems and ensure IMTE registers and calibration records are up to date. Verify that contractors establish and maintain systems/processes for inspection and test status tracking, including statistical analysis of QA data. Participate in project QHSE and pre-qualification audits of vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Conduct activity-level audits/checks on ITPs, QCPs, Method Statements, and quality processes. Oversee and guide the performance of contractor/subcontractor/third-party inspectors and engineers; report to the functional supervisor. Enforce adherence to  Quality Management System relevant to the mechanical function. Spend at least 50% of work time at construction sites under prevailing climatic conditions. Ensure personal safety and the safety of others in all operational environments in alignment with safety policies.
