The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for strategic and tactical purchasing activities for assigned portfolio to ensure a high level of customer service. The Purchasing Supervisor balances supplier capacity and internal inventory levels with demand to support targets consistent with build plans, launch plans, customer service levels and inventory turns. The Purchasing Supervisor leads all efforts with suppliers to address product availability issues and ensures that long term supply constraint issues are resolved or escalated when appropriate. The Purchasing Supervisor also has a high level of focus on driving continuous improvement both externally with the supplier and internally within the purchasing function and with key stakeholders.
What you will do:
Manage strategic and tactical purchasing responsibilities for assigned portfolio to maintain a high level of customer serviceWork directly with suppliers to gain an understanding of their internal planning system and how their processes affect/interact with Stryker's material and capacity requirements.Develop a supply plan across a complex portfolio and multiple sites if required as franchise maturity develops. Engage in capability building with suppliers as part of cross functional teams and add expertise in creating the optimal solutionsGenerate and communicate receipts, inventory, PPV projections and any relevant KPIs to key stakeholdersIdentify gaps in existing business processes and drive improvement activities to close themServe as subject matter expert in purchasing functions. Train and mentor other team members as needed to ensure customer needs are metWork cross-functionally with the following teams and global SPOC’s to support Stryker initiatives: Sourcing, AO, Engineering, Customer Service, and OperationsWork with buying partner to maintain item master data, i.e. lead times, minimum order qty/order multiple, safety stock levels, delivery dates etc. to ensure system data accuracyExpedite or de-expedite product as required ensuring material availability, whilst meeting agreed inventory targets. Escalate supply constraints as needed and with appropriate lead timeWork closely with Production Planners to allow generation of a valid production plan.Participate and provide input to supplier score card reviews to achieve agreed upon OTIF (on time and in full delivery), cost saving and responsiveness targetsPerform additional duties as assignedWhat you need:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management/Logistics, APICS or other equivalent is required.Languages at least English.Minimum of 5 years Supply Chain experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is essential.Knowledge of MRP systems.Excellent knowledge & computer skills of MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word.Demonstrated project management skills.Conversant with company policies/procedures/regulatory and FDA standards.Lead and develop a teamTravel Percentage: None
