Mission of Position
To support multiple Commodity Managers in the development and execution on various business tasks; and to
observe and participate in supplier negotiations in a support capacity. To learn how to be successful in a
complex and sophisticated business environment.
Team Summary:
Strategic Commodity Management is responsible for the overall health of and relationship with the global supply
base consumed in MPT’s divisions in NA. We identify and qualify new suppliers as required. This department is
responsible for ~$1.2B in spend across 6 divisions in Canada, USA and Mexico.
Key Responsibilities:
Support in the development of the commodity strategies
Various data collection and PowerPoint support
Capacity analysis (supplier capacity vs. MPT demand)
Support in the market testing, qualification, and development of new suppliers to support Electrification business
RFQ execution (drawings, volumes, bid list), quote review, economic analysis, and supplier feedback
NDAs and Terms & Conditions agreements
Financial Assessments and Quality Audits
Execute various market tests to explore consolidation opportunities / combat inflation claims
Other duties as assigned
Expected Learning Outcomes:
Exposure to Commodity Management as outlined above
Preparation, execution and analysis of market tests for various commodities leading to supplier selection
Experience working with global suppliers in a complex manufacturing business environment

Requirements and Qualifications:
Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design
Knowledge in computer-based software, including 3D CAD, strong organizational/communication skills, ability to work with others in a team environment
