The Senior Procurement Manager is responsible for leading all procurement and sourcing activities to support production, new product introduction, and ongoing business operations. This role oversees the full procurement lifecycle—including strategy development, supplier management, negotiation, contracting, compliance, and continuous improvement—within a highly regulated aerospace and defense environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement Strategy & ExecutionDevelop and implement comprehensive purchasing strategies, policies, and best practices.Manage the end‑to‑end procurement process, including sourcing, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and contract development.Analyze market conditions, commodity trends, and pricing movements to drive cost savings and strategic sourcing decisions.Ensure on‑time procurement of materials by monitoring inventory levels and adjusting purchasing activities accordingly.Supplier & Vendor ManagementBuild, strengthen, and manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and strategic partners.Lead supplier selection, performance management, contract adherence, and continuous improvement initiatives.Track and report key supplier metrics, including quality, delivery, cost performance, inflation impact, and commodity trends.Evaluate and mitigate supply chain risks, including disruptions, compliance issues, and cost fluctuations.Cross‑Functional CollaborationPartner closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to ensure procured materials meet all technical, quality, and regulatory requirements.Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by coordinating quotes and sourcing activities for new material providers and outside processing vendors.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with business objectives and operational needs.Compliance & StandardsMaintain full compliance with aerospace and defense regulatory requirements, including AS9100, NADCAP, ITAR, DFARS, EAR, and customer‑specific standards.Ensure all purchasing activities meet internal policies, external regulations, and industry best practices.Continuous ImprovementChampion process optimization, cost‑reduction initiatives, and operational efficiency across procurement and supply chain functions.Identify opportunities to enhance supplier performance, reduce lead times, and strengthen supply chain resilience.Required Qualifications10+ years of procurement leadership experience within aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing.Deep understanding of aerospace regulatory compliance (AS9100, NADCAP, ITAR, DFARS, EAR, FAA/EASA).Proven success managing complex supplier relationships and multi‑million‑dollar purchasing budgets.Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor‑management skills.Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple high‑impact projects.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and procurement/purchasing software platforms.U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to ITAR‑regulated projects.Education & CertificationsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.ISM CPSM certification preferred.APICS/ASCM certification preferred.Desired SkillsProcurement & purchasing managementSupply chain strategyAerospace and defense regulatory knowledgeNegotiation & contract managementSupplier performance managementContinuous improvement mindsetJob Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Plainview, NY.
