Purchasing Manager
Description We are looking for a dedicated Purchasing Manager to join our team in Plymouth, Michigan. This role is integral to ensuring pipefitters have access to the necessary tools, equipment, and materials to meet customer demands effectively. The ideal candidate will bring extensive construction and mechanical experience, coupled with strong organizational and vendor management skills. Responsibilities: • Coordinate the procurement of pipe valves, fittings, consumables, safety equipment, and other essential materials. • Manage building maintenance supplies and ensure timely availability for operational needs. • Establish and maintain strong relationships with hundreds of vendors to secure high-quality materials and services. • Collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders to streamline purchasing processes and meet project deadlines. • Oversee construction-related purchasing activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and requirements. • Monitor inventory levels and adjust procurement strategies to meet fluctuating demands. • Utilize Vista software to track and manage purchasing activities efficiently. • Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to the needs of pipefitters and other team members. • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and reliability of procured items. • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations in the selection and acquisition of materials. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement roles within the construction or mechanical industry. • Strong background in construction, with expertise in pipe valves and fittings. • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and coordinate with multiple stakeholders. • Familiarity with industrial business practices and unionized workforce environments. • Proficiency in using procurement software, such as Vista, to manage purchasing activities. • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. • Strong communication abilities to liaise effectively with vendors, pipefitters, and internal teams. • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service and adapting quickly to changing priorities.
