The Purchasing Coordinator supports the efficient procurement of goods and services for a diversified, full-service manufacturing company serving the aviation and defense industries. This entry-level role focuses on reviewing requisitions, obtaining competitive quotations, and assisting with purchasing documentation to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective purchasing operations. The position plays a key role in supporting internal departments, maintaining accurate records, and upholding quality and customer service standards.
Responsibilities
+ Review requisitions and develop clear, accurate specifications to enable competitive procurement of non-complex items.
+ Solicit written and telephone quotations from suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and terms.
+ Expedite deliveries to meet required timelines and support ongoing operations.
+ Verify budgeted funds for specific products and projects before committing to purchases.
+ Assist in maintaining procurement documents in a systematic and auditable fashion, ensuring records are complete and organized.
+ Perform accurate data entry related to purchase orders, inventory, and purchasing transactions.
+ Support purchasing personnel and other departments with purchasing-related information and documentation as needed.
+ Use ERP/MRP systems and Excel to track, update, and report on purchasing and inventory data.
+ Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and support a collaborative work environment.
+ Ensure acceptable attendance and reliability as an essential function of the position.
+ Perform other duties as assigned or required by the position to support overall purchasing and supply chain activities.
Essential Skills
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent.
+ One year of clerical experience in a purchasing or business-related environment.
+ Basic knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ Ability to perform accurate data entry related to purchasing and inventory.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
+ Understanding of purchasing processes, including purchase orders and supply chain fundamentals.
+ Ability to organize and maintain procurement documents in an auditable and systematic manner.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Previous purchasing experience.
+ Experience in aerospace supply chain environments.
+ Understanding of a Quality Management System.
+ Experience using SAP or other ERP systems.
+ Knowledge of inventory control practices.
+ Extensive knowledge of operations and functions of departments and offices involved in handling and disposing of information and requests for information.
+ Strong customer service orientation and responsiveness.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position based in Long Beach within a full-service manufacturing facility that supports aviation and defense customers. You will work closely with purchasing, supply chain, and other internal departments in an office environment using computers, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office applications throughout the day. The culture emphasizes reliability, collaboration, and high-quality customer service, with a focus on accurate documentation and adherence to established processes.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
