Job Description
The Purchasing Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting manufacturing operations by managing vendor relationships, processing purchase orders, and coordinating deliveries. This position collaborates closely with the sales and production teams to assist with vendor quotations and ensure accurate inventory control through regular physical counts and ERP system updates. The role involves working with purchasing, production, sales, and accounting functions.
Responsibilities
Manage vendor relationships and maintain clear, professional communication.Prepare, process, and track purchase orders in accordance with company policies.Confirm receipt of goods and resolve pricing, quantity, or delivery discrepancies.Support sales and production teams with vendor quotations and delivery coordination.Perform weekly cycle counts of critical production materials and quarterly physical inventory counts.Reconcile inventory discrepancies and maintain accurate records in the ERP system.Act as a liaison between engineering, suppliers, and internal teams.Maintain organized purchasing and inventory documentation.Essential Skills
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel (formulas), Word, and Outlook.Proficiency with ERP systems, scanning, and PDF editing.2–3 years minimum experience as a Purchasing Specialist, Purchasing Coordinator, Purchasing Administrator, or in a similar purchasing/inventory/administrative role.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and maintain a high level of attention to detail.Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Comfortable working in a manufacturing/plant environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new responsibilities.Must be open to spending approximately 2–3 hours per week on the production floor to perform cycle counts and assess material requirements.Prior experience in a small manufacturing environment (fewer than 50 employees) is preferred.Preferred candidates have experience in manufacturing industries such as construction, heavy manufacturing, or industrial fabrication.Work Environment
The role is primarily based in an office environment. Work hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The dress code is business casual. The position requires occasional presence on the production floor, with steel-toed shoes required for safety.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethlehem, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
