The Purchasing & Logistics Agent is responsible for coordinating the procurement of materials, tools, and supplies necessary for production, as well as managing the shipping and receiving functions for the Tampa facility. This role ensures on-time delivery of customer orders, maintains optimal inventory levels, negotiates with suppliers, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to keep production running efficiently.Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Management
Source and procure equipment, tools, materials, and services necessary to support production and operations.Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery performance, and reliability.Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements with suppliers to optimize cost savings and service levels.Maintain strong working relationships with vendors to ensure long-term strategic partnerships.Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to defective or late goods.Logistics & Shipping Coordination
Organize and manage inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring on-time deliveries to customers and job sites.Select logistics providers, monitor performance, and escalate delivery issues when necessary.Coordinate with freight carriers and customs as needed to ensure smooth shipping processes.Track and resolve discrepancies related to missing, delayed, or damaged shipments.Inventory & Materials Management
Receive incoming goods, verify accuracy, and coordinate distribution to production and other departments.Maintain accurate inventory levels by conducting regular cycle counts and reconciling variances.Establish purchasing strategies including reorder points, safety stock, and optimal inventory storage methods.Monitor market trends, material availability, and pricing to anticipate changes that impact supply planning.Process & Compliance
Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records in ERP and related systems.Prepare and issue purchase orders, solicit bids, and analyze cost comparisons for management approval.Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and finance teams to align material planning with operational priorities.Other Duties
Support cross-functional initiatives related to cost reduction and process improvement.Participate in continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency in procurement and logistics workflows.Perform other related tasks as assigned.Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.Minimum 2–3 years of relevant purchasing, inventory, or logistics experience; manufacturing background preferred.Experience with ERP systems and inventory management platforms preferred.Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; QuickBooks or ERP experience is a plus.Analytical Ability: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a focus on accuracy.Organization: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Negotiation Skills: Effective at securing competitive pricing and favorable terms.Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including vendor and stakeholder management.Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.
