Our partner is seeking a Purchasing Agent to support full‑cycle procurement activities, including supplier selection, purchase order management, expediting, and coordination with operations. This role will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure materials and services are purchased accurately, on time, and in alignment with production needs. The Purchasing Agent will also support continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing function.
ResponsibilitiesRespond to internal requisitions for materials and services in a timely and professional manner.Generate RFQs, evaluate supplier responses, and select vendors based on price, quality, and delivery.Create, issue, and manage purchase orders from initiation through receiving.Work directly with vendors to resolve pricing, delivery, and quality issues; communicate order status to stakeholders.Maintain accurate vendor, product, and purchasing data within NetSuite and other procurement systems.Partner with operations and shop leadership to provide updates on delivery schedules and material availability.Support inventory planning by ensuring timely purchasing aligned with production requirements.Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance purchasing processes and service levels.Maintain consistent attendance, meet deadlines, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.Utilize Excel and other tools to track, analyze, and report on purchasing activity.Perform additional duties and projects as needed.QualificationsTwo‑ to four‑year degree and/or 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience.Hands‑on experience managing the full purchasing cycle from requisition through receiving.Experience generating and managing RFQs/RFPs.Direct vendor‑facing experience, including expediting and issue resolution.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.Ability to manage multiple vendors, purchase orders, and priorities simultaneously.Proficiency with NetSuite or similar ERP/purchasing systems.Strong Excel skills and general computer proficiency.Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external suppliers.Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities with the ability to meet deadlines.Preferred SkillsExperience supporting inventory planning and coordination with operations. Vendor negotiations related to pricing, delivery, and service.Experience supporting multiple internal departments in a manufacturing or operations‑focused environment.Demonstrated involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.Ability to work independently and within a cross‑functional team.Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a modern, newly renovated office environment with regular interaction across departments.
