The Purchaser will be responsible for negotiating with vendors for the acquisition of all materials, supplies, and services. This role involves communicating with suppliers, managing logistics, and overseeing inventories. The position requires participation in cross-functional teams to meet production and sales demands.
Responsibilities
+ Negotiate with vendors for goods and services to secure the best possible prices and service guarantees.
+ Establish and ensure compliance with purchasing policies.
+ Process and solicit quotes from vendors.
+ Collaborate with vendors to expedite or defer orders as needed.
+ Monitor costs and variances associated with purchased items.
+ Work closely with the Receiving Department to ensure the timely arrival of supplies.
+ Monitor and troubleshoot MRP system messages.
+ Review forecasts and monitor inventory levels to meet demand.
+ Work with the product design team to establish order policies for new products.
+ Act as a liaison to resolve quality issues with vendors.
+ Trace delinquent arrivals from purchase orders.
+ Follow environmental and safety regulations in compliance with US laws.
Essential Skills
+ 1-4 years of experience in purchasing or buying.
+ Proficiency in MRP systems and moderate Excel skills.
+ Strong negotiation skills with experience in negotiating rates with vendors.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics and manufacturing processes.
+ Understanding of APICS standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma (HSD) or GED required.
+ High volume purchasing experience preferred.
+ Experience in purchasing within the manufacturing sector is highly preferred.
+ APICS certification is advantageous.
+ Experience with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics 365, is a bonus.
+ Higher education in logistics or procurement is helpful.
Work Environment
The Purchaser will work within a small team, closely collaborating with the Purchasing Manager who specializes in international purchasing. The role is primarily focused on domestic purchasing, constituting 90% of the responsibilities. The position requires onsite work from Monday to Friday, with working hours from 7 am to 3:30 pm. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tualatin, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $27.00/hr.
