**Job Title: Pump Mechanic**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled Pump Mechanic who will be responsible for disassembling, troubleshooting, and reassembling various types of motor-driven pumps and blowers. The role requires effectively cleaning and preparing mechanical and electrical components for inspection using typical shop equipment, examining parts for defects, and performing detailed inspections to determine the root cause of failures.
**Responsibilities**
+ Disassemble, troubleshoot, and reassemble motor-driven pumps and blowers.
+ Clean and prepare mechanical/electrical components for inspection using equipment like sandblasters, dip tanks, and steam wash pits.
+ Examine parts for defects such as eccentricities, rubs, wear, and excessive damage.
+ Document all relevant ‘As-Found’ data during mechanical and visual inspections.
+ Recommend disposition on job cards and Customer spec sheets.
+ Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns when necessary.
+ Safely oversee lifting/rigging of equipment weighing upwards of 25 tons.
+ Lead and mentor less experienced mechanics throughout the repair process.
+ Balance rotating assemblies to industry standards using shop balancing equipment.
+ Perform hydrostatic pressure testing on refurbished pumps prior to shipment.
+ Conduct criteria acceptance testing on pump motors, including close coupled and submersible types.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics.
+ Experience in assembly, laser alignment, and vibration analysis.
+ Knowledge of industrial pumps and blowers.
+ Skillful in using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
+ Experience in disassembly, rigging, and mechanical repairs.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Minimum of 4 years of industrial mechanical repair experience.
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Customer service oriented.
+ Excellent driving record.
+ Ability to work overtime, including nights and weekends.
+ Experience with vibration analysis and/or laser alignment.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $29.00/hr.
