Responsible for the safe, efficient and continuous manufacture of kraft pulp in desired quality and quantity.

 

 

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK:

Directs operations to meet production, budgetary goals and control expenditures. Ensures that infrastructure and equipment are adequately maintained and reliable.  Leads pulp mill safety efforts.Responsible for the department quality program. Sets and maintains quality standards.Monitors operations to insure compliance with environmental regulations. Provides long range goals for production improvements and employee training.

 

Safety

Responsible for day-to-day area safety and assist with all area safety effortsParticipate or review all safety incidents and investigate root cause. Assure follow-up items are completed in a timely mannerHelp support the behavioral safety program (where applicable) and ensure that safe work practices are followedLead safety initiatives and provide safety training to ensure safe work practices are followed and enforcedWork to eliminate employee interactions with equipmentAddress safety concerns with a strong urgency

 

Leadership

Conduct investigations of safety incidents with shift supervisors and hourly personnelDevelop team in areas of production, safety, quality and overall plant efficiency. · Ensure employee compliance with schedules, policies, and proceduresAssist in developing and implementing job-specific training program and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)Support capital budget processCreates an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive teamworkResponsible for performance management processCoach and develop team members to ensure a sustained leadership pipelineResponsible for the motivation and morale of the business unit to achieve the expected goalsCollaborates with other areas internal and external to the site

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering preferred10+ years of work related mill experience
