Pulp and Paper Insurance Engineer

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Risk Engineering team at Marsh. This role will be based within Asia. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The Pulp and Paper Insurance Engineer is part of our specialized risk management team, focusing on evaluating and mitigating risks associated with pulp and paper mill operations, especially the Black Liquor Recovery Boiler (BLRB). You will work closely with underwriters, plant operators, and maintenance personnel to develop insurance strategies and ensure industry standards compliance.

We will count on you to:

Conduct thorough risk evaluations of pulp and paper mills, with a focus on the BLRB, including high-risk exposures such as smelt/water explosions and equipment breakdowns.Develop and implement tailored insurance strategies considering the complexities of the BLRB and related equipment.Perform regular on-site inspections to assess equipment conditions, maintenance practices, and compliance with industry standards.Evaluate business interruption risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential losses related to the BLRB.Collaborate with plant personnel and insurers to gather insights, review insured values, and optimize risk mitigation strategies.

What you need to have:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.Relevant years of experience in risk management or insurance within the pulp and paper industry.Strong understanding of engineering risks and insurance principles, with a focus on the BLRB.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.

What makes you stand out:

Professional certification in risk management or insurance (e.g., ARM, CPCU).Experience with Erection All Risk (EAR) and Contractors All Risk (CAR) insurance.Familiarity with industry standards such as FM Global, AXA XL, and BLRBAC.
