Tailing Facilities Engineer
Barrick Pueblo Viejo is looking for a Tailing Facilities Engineer to join the Projects team. This role will assist and ensure the site’s compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements and conformance with Barrick’s Corporate Standards, Global Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), and other applicable standards and guidelines. The TFE will act as a link between the sites, area and senior leadership by providing technical review and oversight to ensure compliance as well as conveying critical information on the performance of the facilities and assisting the parties concerned in the decision-making required to mitigate identified risks. The TFE will also liaise with the Engineers of Record providing technical review and guidance.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the stability and long-term viability of tailings storage facilities and water storage dams and structures including Llagal, Naranjo, Mejita, Taino, Hondo and ARD Ponds
Oversee development of tailing storage design drawings and documentation to assist with QAQC tracking and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Stakeholder engagement with Consultants, Contractors and Act as the site Engineer of Record (EOR) for all the TSF and other dams’ infrastructures onsite at PVDC while also being the RTFE
Managing the TSF risk register which includes identifying risks with operations and PV stakeholders throughout the mine life cycle, developing corrective actions to mitigate risk and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
Stay up to date on the state of practice in geotechnical engineering applicable to the design, construction, operation and closure of tailings storage and their ancillary structures
Conduct critical review of site investigation plans, technical reports, engineering designs, construction drawings, specifications, and monitoring data.
Conduct regular performance reviews of the PV facilities and develop appropriate risk reduction measures.
Lead the sites’ preparation for independent reviews, attend the scheduled reviews and ensure that recommendations are acted upon.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in, Engineering Geology, Mining or Civil Engineering (required).
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering (strongly preferred).
Minimum eight (8) years of experience operating at a senior level in the areas of geotechnical engineering for dams and infrastructure and designing and/or operating tailings storage facilities in tropical, high rainfall environments, required.
Strong background in dam designs and construction management, required.
Experience in different commodities and geological settings, (preferred)
Bilingual (Spanish/ English)
