Metallurgy Advisor

Barrick is looking for a Metallurgy Advisor to join the Processing team. This role will be responsible for guaranteeing the safe and efficient management of the metallurgy operations, the production metals accounting, the process control development, the continuous improvement programs and related projects with the purpose of guaranteeing in a continuous way the taking of samples, the analysis and the accounting required for the metallurgical circuit. leading and optimizing the metallurgical performance of the PV plant, including all circuits across the Upper, Middle and Lower benches. This role involves full time technical leadership, detailed process troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to ensure maximum production, recoveries, efficiencies, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. 

Responsibilities:

Lead the development of all required testing to support the process plant and water treatment circuits and predict the behavior of the different metallurgical circuits under various scenarios in order to recommend operating parameters to the process plant technical services superintendent and the operations superintendents, including growth unit operations (flotation and pre-oxidation). Oversee the adequate Assay and Metallurgical laboratories performance. Related but not limited to ISO certification, updated and relevant procedures, QA/QC and the research/implementation of methods that may allow to have faster or more reliable results. Lead the Forecasting/Budgeting process improvement. Assuring a seamless interaction among all related disciplines site wide. Lead the coordination of the ore blending strategies coordinated with the geology area from Mining department and Process Department with the objective of achieving production targets established in the Barrick Pueblo Viejo JV KPIs. Establish the training (technical/safety) and certification program for the process plant metallurgical group and supervise compliance with metallurgical testing procedures all the time in order to ensure the competence of the team members, maintain the procedures and policies updated and current and strengthen the effectiveness of the organization.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering,  10 + years’ experience in a technical role in processing plants (grinding, POX, CIL, Flotation, neutralization, etc.) Knowledge of commissioning new unit operations highly preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Metallurgical Simulation Software, OSI PI, VBA Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
