The Riverhead Books imprint at Penguin Random House is seeking a Publicity Manager or Senior Publicity Manager to independently execute publicity campaigns while developing and maintaining strong relationships with the media. Specific responsibilities include:
Independently plans and executes media campaigns that will maximize exposure for authors and their books including creating press materials, securing national and local media, and managing author tours. Manages high-touch author care, interview prep, and media training, as well as offer attentive communication with agents, booksellers, media, and key in-house departments. Develops and strengthens relationships with national and local media and marketplace/industry contacts. Collaborates on all campaigns with Marketing, Sales, Editorial, and Subsidiary Rights. Presents the Riverhead list to broadcast, print, online media outlets, and lecture venues. Handles select department responsibilities and represent the imprint at various meetings, functions, and industry events.

Minimum 6 years of publishing publicity experience Keen interest in literary nonfiction and fiction Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment Strong existing relationships with national and regional media contacts Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines Excellent presentation skills Knowledge of the media, marketplace and competition Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Knowledge of Cision, Muck Rack, and Publishers Work Bench, a plus
The salary range for the Publicity Manager position is $76,500 - $80,000. The salary range for the Senior Publicity Manager position is $80,000 - $85,000. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
