Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) is seeking a Public Information Officer to join the Office of the Secretary. The Public Information Officer's job is to work toward the Louisiana Workforce Commission's strategic priorities-and to provide support to LWC staff and programs, in the form of written communications, media relations and outreach, communications consulting, delivering and crafting targeted messaging, and other communications-related support tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Writes, edits, and distributes press releases
+ Manage and keep current all media contact lists; monitor and, when directed, respond to media inquiries.
+ Become proficient in the use of the LWC's online content management system, Intranet administration, and social media platforms.
+ Collaborates with LWC staff across programs and departments to develop messaging and communication materials.
+ Works with the Executive Team to develop, communicate, and implement crisis management plans for both the public and employees.
+ Prepares LWC informational packets and materials for key LWC stakeholders such as legislators, partner agencies, or event audiences.
+ Crafts presentations for LWC leadership, such as PowerPoint, Prezi, speeches, and talking points.
+ Other duties as assigned
Position-Specific Details:
Work Location: East Baton Rouge Parish
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a Probational or a Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled as a Public Information Officer 1, 2 or 3. The level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position is an opportunity to advance within this job series. The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.
