Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a permanent Louisiana Dietitian/Nutritionist license plus four years of licensed experience in public health nutrition or dietetics in a clinical setting.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Interprets and implements complex state policies and procedures; disseminates policy information and changes to local staff. Manages and monitors adherence to policy by coordinating and conducting scheduled management evaluations where appropriate, making recommendations, evaluating the need for follow-up, and providing ongoing consultation and education to staff.
+ Advises Public Health Administrator on BONS/WIC plans, policy requirements and changes, staffing recommendations, organizational structure, and facility needs.
+ Leads the region’s strategic planning for future nutrition programming. Monitors the regional WIC staffing contract and approves payroll and travel expenses thereof. Reviews and submits monthly invoices to LDH fiscal for payment, as required. Monitors budget and submits invoices to BONS.
+ Compiles and submits reports to State Agency staff as requested and/or required.
+ Ensures regional compliance with USDA WIC mandates and regulations, as well as State level policies. Plans, coordinates, and facilitates orientation and training for WIC staff.
+ Serves as a subject matter expert in maternal and child nutrition and breastfeeding and fields nutrition questions from community in person or via telephone/email.
+ Serves as a preceptor for eligible dietetic interns.
+ When necessary, performs clinic services and high-risk nutrition counseling. Directs and supervises staff in performing all outreach activities in Region to increase awareness of nutrition services provided by PHUs and contract WIC sites.
+ Provides nutrition support and expertise to other public health programs, such as Reproductive Health, Genetics, etc. as needed. Leads the coordination of all aspects of food service and nutrition departments in area Medical Needs Shelters and General Population Shelters during times of emergency.
+ Completes Continuous Performance Management (CPM) documents as required for direct reports.
+ Manages and certifies time and attendance ensuring direct reports are maintain productive work schedules, coding time correctly, and requesting leave according to policy and procedure. Plans and facilitates regular staff meetings to manage special projects, coordinate communications, and address program operations.
