The Public Defender is an elected official who has a constitutional duty to provide legal representation to persons in jeopardy of losing their life or liberty who cannot afford to hire a private attorney. Our office employs nearly 230 attorneys plus investigators, mitigation specialists, and secretaries to assist with the more than 75,000 cases we handle each year. Position Type: Full-time Salary and Benefits: + Starting salary is $41,600. Job Description overview: The intake interviewer assists with client intake interviews in correctional facilities and hospitals, requesting and processing records, records’ review, preparing calendars, files, documentation and follow through. It is an in-person position, working at the jail. No hybrid or remote work permitted.
