The Position
As a Public Affairs Manager you will be responsible for therapy area policy, lead policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, issues management, building and implementation of advocacy campaigns in priority therapy areas for Novo Nordisk. In addition, you will be responsible to collaborate with key internal therapy area teams and other functions to identify specific policy outcomes and takes a campaigning approach to building and executing Public Affairs projects that deliver real impact for patients and the business. Moreover, you will be responsible to build and maintain relationships with key therapy area stakeholders and patient advocacy groups.
Your Main Accountabilities will be to:
Provide advice to business leaders on policy trends and issues in therapy area, health system and industrial policy and advice on strategic priorities, anchoring Public Affairs in the business and ensuring alignment across other key functions Support the Public Affairs team to target advocacy activities on priority policy and business issues and help build and maintain relationships with senior policymakers, industry leaders, and advocacy groups, positioning Novo Nordisk as a trusted advocacy partner Guide the development of impactful advocacy narratives drawing on expert understanding of levels for policy change and is an external ambassador and spokesperson for Novo Nordisk in advocacy campaign activities Guide the establishment of complex multi-stakeholder and multi-year collaborations and enable cross-functional collaboration to increase the scope and reach of Public Affairs partnerships Ensure the patient relations strategy is aligned with long term business goals and create strategies for patient group activities to drive policy change aligned with local priorities
Qualifications
As a Public Affairs Manager, you need to have a bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Political Science, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. In addition, you need to have minimum of 5 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, public relations, or investor relations. Moreover, you need to have proven ability to manage relationships with external stakeholders, including government entities and investors.
To be successful in this role, you should also have:
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic communication initiatives At least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry required Strong networking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to tailor content and delivery for specific audiences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to turn complex concepts into clear, simple, and structured messages. Strong influencing, networking, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact with senior management and high-profile experts with confidence and ease Experience in managing agency relationships, providing direction, project management, and performance reviews A high level of independent decision-making to manage media inquiries and issues that may appear at short notice and require prompt decisions Must have strong business English proficiencyAbout the department
The External Affairs function is very critical to short-term and strategic affiliate priorities. To keep the focus on those responsibilities, EA team members are leading the transformation initiatives and striving for cross-function execution excellence internally and in the field. The function covers pricing activities, key account management for private, Field market access, and public affairs.
