Psychiatry Admissions Coordinator UNC Youth Behavioral Health Facility

Seeking Psychiatry Admissions Coordinator for the team at UNC Youth Behavioral Health Facility located at Butner, North Carolina! Full time position; Day schedule; 40 hours per week with varied schedule 12 hour and 8-hour shifts; 4 days a week UNC Youth Behavioral Health is a 54-bed inpatient psychiatric facility located in Butner, NC. The hospital is composed of 4 units designed to care for child and adolescent patients with a variety of common mental health diagnoses, including those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In a milieu-based, trauma-informed, therapeutic setting, patients are treated by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapy Services, Social Workers, Nursing Services, Pharmacy, Pastoral Care and Nutrition Services. Safety is the key component of the care provided as well as introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities. Summary: The Psychiatry Admissions Coordinator is an integral position for both the Department of Psychiatry and the UNC Medical Center. Its purpose is to optimally facilitate the admissions process for psychiatric patients while improving their experience through decreased wait time for placement in a bed. The role serves as the key contact for providers when a psychiatric patient requires admission. Responsibilities: Manage the Psychiatry admissions list to include prioritization and assignment of appropriate service & nursing unit. Receive admission calls from the Department of Psychiatry outpatient providers and the Emergency Department. Document the reason for admission, denial or deferment. Monitors the psychiatry transfer list to ensure both appropriateness & timeliness of admission. Monitors for potential discharges from the Department of Psychiatry and helps coordinate a timely discharge. Communicate admissions to the accepting teams. Communicate admissions to Bed Assignment & coordinate admitting times with the House Supervisors. Serve as a point of contact for any stakeholder inquiring about the admission of a psychiatric patient. Troubleshoots and manages conflict. Takes action to follow up on safety concerns of patients, families, providers or staff. Leads and participates in quality improvement initiatives that focus on identified patient flow and satisfaction deficits. **Other Information** Other information: **Education Requirements:** ● Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. **Licensure/Certification Requirements:** ● Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. **Professional Experience Requirements:** ● Three (3) years of professional nursing experience in a tertiary care setting plus one (1) year of experience managing patient flow. **Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:** ● Critical skills and knowledge required for an individual to succeed in this position are condensed in the following areas: Familiarity with psychiatry services, hospital flow, and collaboration with other personnel including, but not limited to, the Psychiatry residents, Bed Assignment staff, & Nursing House Supervisors. **Job Details** Legal Employer: STATE Entity: UNC Medical Center Organization Unit: UNCH YBH Administration Work Type: Full Time Standard Hours Per Week: 40.00 Salary Range: $41.04 - $59.00 per hour (Hiring Range) Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity Work Assignment Type: Hybrid Work Schedule: Day Job Location of Job: Butner:NC:27509 Exempt From Overtime: Exempt: Yes This is a State position employed by UNC Health Care System with UNC Health benefits.
