Central Louisiana State Hospital located inPineville, Louisianais seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Nursing Department as aPsychiatric Aide Supervisor 1who supervises lower-level paraprofessional healthcare staff providing therapeutic and environmental care of patients on a ward during an assigned shift.
The Psychiatric Aide Supervisor 1 plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services, or psychiatric patient care; OR
Eighteen semester hours of college coursework in a social sciences field, education, social work, child guidance, or nursing; OR
Two years and six months of experience in providing behavioral health or developmentally disabled services or psychiatric patient care plus a Behavioral Health Aide Diploma from a vocational technical college with an approved curriculum from the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Supervises Psychiatric Aides providing therapeutic and environmental care of patients on a unit during assigned 12-hour shift. Prepares daily work schedules and assigns basic work duties to care for patients. Ensures that appropriate assignments are made and completed. Completes shift report and participates in report at change of shift. Reports pertinent information to the appropriate supervisor on an ongoing basis. Prepares and reviews evaluations with Psychiatric Aides.
+ Teaches, assists, and monitors patients with personal hygiene, grooming, and/or disrobing to ensure patients' rights to privacy and dignity is respected. Assigns or performs routine nursing duties such as taking vital signs, assisting with treatments, collecting urine tests, bathing patients, washing and/or drying patients' clothing, etc. Performs and/or assigns duties to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients, assisting in cleaning physical surroundings, furnishings, and equipment in patient care areas.
+ Documents on patients' charts pertinent behavior, or incidents (accidents or injuries), or any complaints made by patients, and reports such to appropriate supervisory personnel. Intervenes appropriately to promote achievement of individual patient goals.
+ Assists in patient management, utilizes therapeutic intervention techniques to apply physical restraints in the event that patient action requires such intervention. Addresses policy violation by staff following progressive disciplinary action. Participates in Indicators of Performance (IOP) monitoring and submits all documents and reports in a timely manner.
+ Orients/trains new Psychiatric Aides to the unit program and basic duties. Participates in treatment team meetings and physician rounds. Attends or conducts in-service training to maintain current competency and standards. Adheres to the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health, Civil Service, CLSH, and all other governing bodies’ laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type:Probational, Promotion, Demotion, Detail, or Transfer.
Compensation: This position has a Special Interest Rate (SER) of $1,190.80bi-weekly. Position is eligible for premium pay of $1.50 per hour WORKED and Longevity pay starting at $1.00 per hour worked.
