Skilled Psychiatric Technician is responsible for performing specific duties that support the care and well being of psychiatric patients which includes direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing a safe and efficient care environment This position performs selected interventions and activities that contribute to providing comprehensive care to patients in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards policies and procedures In addition along with the care team this position is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience This role performs in a high activity work environment with multiple priorities and necessitates flexibility in schedulingJob ResponsibilitiesIndividual Patient Care responsibilitiesAssists the RN and the nursingtreatment care team by performing nursing care measures that contribute to the daily management of patient care Upholds infection prevention standardsSpend time in the milieu observing and monitoring patientsrsquo mental emotional and behavioral status to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by preventing and de escalating crisesPerforms and assists with direct patient care bathing grooming oral denture care perineal care toileting elimination feeding positioning repositioning and ambulationPerforms interventions including specimen collection Point of Care TestingObtains and records vital signs using the electronic medical recordEKGPhlebotomyAdhere to hospital policies HIPAA regulations and professional ethical standardsAdhere to hospital policies HIPAA regulations and professional ethical standardsResponds to Behavioral Interventions using non violent crisis intervention skills trainingWork collaboratively with nurses social workers therapists and providers in implementing individualized treatment plansPatient Group and other interactions responsibilitiesManagement of milieu safety including groups meals minute observations managing visitors securing belongingsEnvironment of Care EOC roundsPrepares and assists with facilitating Patient socializationeducation groups to patientsPerforms clerical functions related to pre admissions admissions discharges and transfersPrecepting and MentoringOrient and mentor new psychiatric technicians and support staff to the unitServe as a positive role model demonstrating best practices and
