Propulsion Calibration Engineering Group Manager

Job Description

Hybrid: for this position is required to be on site 3x/week

Role Summary

We are looking for a driven and inclusive Engineering Group Manager of Propulsion Calibration to join our team.

This people-leader will be responsible for leading the development of Engine/Transmission/Hybrid Controls and Calibration to meet vehicle requirements and on-time program deliverables.

This activity includes developing a team of problem-solving engineers without support. In this role you will set the direction and independently lead global and/or GMSA multi-functional teams for issue resolution.

The preferred candidate will be strongly skilled in Project Planning, Team Building, and Propulsion Controls Calibration Technologies.

This position allows the opportunity to exercise highly independent judgment and provide creative solutions.

What you will do (responsabilities):

Coordinate and lead Propulsion Calibration development process for Product Team

Provide leadership and guide the team through the development of standard work processes and performance requirements.

Support resolutions of vehicle, plant or customer issues relating to calibration release

Support critical initiatives (across vehicle programs) to share technology, solutions, releases, etc. to enable meeting corporate performance, cost, quality and timing objectives

Support and manage Calibrators to ensure that all calibration deliverables are met on-time, and Subsystems/Components are integrated at a vehicle level

Hire new talents, mentor employees, develop objectives and conduct performance evaluations

Execute individual training and Business Plan objectives

As people leader, foster the career development of calibration engineers

Manage Intellectual Property Transfer as appropriate

Manage the group's budget for people, vehicles, testing, and support

Thorough knowledge of design, development, and test engineering, manufacturing and assembly operations, engineering processes and procedures

Keep abreast of new technology and competitive products

Significant travel involved to support program Buy-off Rides events

Highly developed oral and written communications skills

Adhere to all Safety Precautions and Requirements, and treat safety as the top priority during all work activities

Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional discipline activity.  Build strong working relationships to other functional areas local and globally, including but not limited to: Controls & Algorithms, Diagnostics, Transmission Calibration, Electrification Calibration, Engine Calibration in other groups, including other regions, Engine Hardware Program Team, Platform Program Team, Integration Team and System Safety

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications):

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent Engineering field

Fluent English communication skill. High level of oral and written communication

Strong and relevant engineering experience

Experience in propulsion system development and/or controls integration/and/or propulsion software development (mandatory)

Knowledgeable in emissions and diagnostic compliance, laboratory operations and regulatory legislations

Detailed working knowledge / experience in the Powertrain Calibration Process

Vehicle Development Experience

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering will be a plus

International experience is highly desirable;

Successful experience as an engine/transmission/hybrid calibrator

Willing and able travel involved to support program buy-off rides and calibration development

Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to operate and drive test vehicles
