Job Description
The Property Accountant is responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a designated portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role works closely with property management and asset management to ensure accurate financials, compliance, and timely reporting.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for commercial properties.Manage month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.Maintain general ledger accuracy in accordance with GAAP.Prepare and review CAM, real estate tax, and operating expense reconciliations.Review lease abstracts and ensure proper revenue recognition and expense allocations.Partner with property managers to address variances, questions, and financial issues.Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.Support internal and external audits and ad hoc reporting requests.Utilize Yardi for all accounting, reporting, and analysis functions.Essential Skills
5+ years of commercial property accounting experience.Strong Yardi experience.Understanding of commercial real estate accounting principles and GAAP.Experience managing accounting responsibilities across multiple properties.Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize deadlines.Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.Work Environment
The work environment consists of a quiet, spacious office with a small, tight-knit team. This role is highly independent and entrepreneurial in nature, providing the freedom to manage responsibilities autonomously.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
