Property Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled Property Accountant to join our team in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. This role involves managing property accounting processes, corporate financial tasks, and investment reporting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency with accounting software. Responsibilities: • Manage property accounting operations to support financial statement preparation and ensure streamlined processes for assigned properties. • Oversee and prepare construction draw submissions, utilizing property accounting software to ensure accurate documentation. • Create and update fixed asset schedules and cost segregation workpapers for public accounting firm submissions. • Perform monthly billing tasks, including reimbursable, fee, and commission billing for corporate accounting. • Prepare comprehensive company financial statement packages and assist with budgeting and income projections. • Maintain financial reporting for ownership entities and track equity method accounting for investments. • Process and verify periodic distributions to investors while analyzing investment-level cash flow projections. • Review year-end property financial statement packages and tax return drafts for accuracy. • Participate in treasury management functions and contribute to departmental and company meetings. • Support year-end accounting activities, including property reconciliations and budget reviews. Requirements • Proven experience in property accounting and financial statement preparation. • Proficiency in Yardi software and other accounting systems. • Strong understanding of month-end close processes and accrual accounting. • Expertise in general ledger management and financial reporting. • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate projections. • Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple tasks. • Familiarity with investment management and equity method accounting. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
