What this opportunity involves:

We are seeking an Accountant to join our team at one of Melbourne’s premier mixed-use precincts. You will be a key Finance member in providing a timely delivery of the client’s property accounting tasks.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be a key member in the Finance team in providing a timely delivery of the client’s property accounting tasks. You will possess strong and effective communication skills and liaise with both internal stakeholders and Client.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong attention to detail, analytical thinking skills and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights that drive decision-making.

This role will be based on-site in Melbourne CBD.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports with variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecasts Perform general ledger maintenance including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly bank reconciliations Execute month-end and year-end closing procedures within established deadlines and maintain adherence to process checklists Assist with preparation of 10-year forecasts, budget development, and quarterly forecasting activities Analyse financial trends and KPIs to create executive dashboards and provide actionable business insights for senior managementMaintain fixed asset records, perform depreciation calculations, and prepare year-end outgoings and tenant washups Support audit activities including year-end audit and ASAE 3402 audit while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements Upload monthly sales data, finalize turnover rent calculations, and ensure timely payment of supplier invoices Manage daily receipting processes and follow up on exceptions with the Property Management team Collaborate with operations teams to provide financial guidance on business decisions and identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes

Key Skills & Requirements

Tertiary education in Accounting, Finance or equivalent Studying towards professional qualifications (CA or CPA) will be highly regarded Prior experience in property accounting, ideally for offices and/or retailWorking experience using Yardi or other asset management software will be highly desirable Sound knowledge of accounting principles and systems Excellent written and oral communication skills to liaise with a variety of stakeholders High level time management and ability to prioritise tasks with competing deadlinesDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously
