Description Bill Watts at Robert Half is looking for a dedicated Property Accountant to join my clients team in Troy, Michigan. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of property management accounting systems, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: + Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. + Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. + Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and sub-ledgers. + Record and review journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions. + Coordinate with property management teams on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. + Maintain CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and tenant billings. + Prepare year-end work papers and support audit requests. + Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and lease agreements. + Assist in process improvements and implementation of new accounting systems or procedures. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field + 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in property management or real estate. + Strong understanding of GAAP and property accounting concepts. + Experience with Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar property accounting software. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. + Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills. + Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
