Property Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our client's growing team in Columbia, South Carolina. In this role, you will manage the financial reporting and accounting tasks for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with sophisticated clients and contribute to the success of their property operations. Responsibilities: • Oversee monthly accounting processes, including general ledger maintenance and preparation of financial statements for assigned properties. • Conduct month-end close procedures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reports. • Prepare detailed financial reports and analyses tailored to meet client needs. • Utilize accounting software to maintain accurate records and streamline reporting processes. • Collaborate with property managers and other stakeholders to address financial inquiries and discrepancies. • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations in all financial documentation. • Monitor and reconcile property accounts to maintain financial integrity. • Implement advanced Excel formulas and functions to support data analysis and reporting. • Manage profit-sharing calculations and other related financial allocations. • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation when required. Requirements • Minimum of two years of experience in general ledger accounting, including debit and credit transactions. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred; open to candidates with relevant experience and no degree. • Strong proficiency in financial statement preparation and month-end close processes. • Familiarity with property accounting practices and systems. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data manipulation. • Attention to detail and ability to handle sophisticated client interactions. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
