Position Description:
Position duration is expected to be 2+ years. This position performs program / project management responsibilities for one or more programs and/or complex projects utilizing either an agile or waterfall approach. Projects typically utilize vendor participation. Projects typically have durations longer than 6 months with 10 or more team members, require communication at the leadership levels and have a medium to high risk. Project management activities will include project planning, scheduling, tracking, reporting, change management, issue management, and risk management. Along with other project related duties that may be required from time to time. This position will ensure consistency with the State Unified Information Technology Environment (SUITE). The selected candidate will provide program and as necessary individual project management services for the State of Michigan (SOM) Cloud and Mobility programs. Initiatives include: Establishing public cloud services, Monitoring / Overseeing private cloud project(s), Establish Private Cloud FedRamp Compliance, Establishing 3rd Party Hosting Center Services, Monitoring / Overseeing VPN Upgrade, Monitoring / Overseeing the establishment of a Mobility Center of Excellence, as well as additional / future cloud and mobility projects.
Skills Required: Fundamental knowledge of Project Management principles, concepts and practices. Fundamental knowledge of data centers, cloud and mobile technologies and principles. Fundamental knowledge of basic operating principles of data communications and information systems hardware and software. Strong written communications skills. Ability to communicate the needs of others effectively. Ability to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and suggest solutions. Ability to work in a team environment involving matrix organizations. Ability to resolve conflicting priorities and requirements.
Experience Required:
5+ Years Project Management.
10+ Years IT.
Experience Preferred:
3+ Years Program Management.
1+ Year Hosting Center Project Management.
1+ Year Cloud Project Management.
1+ Year Mobility Project Management.
