**Job Description**
AECOM is actively seeking a collaborative and highly talented Project Engineer for a full-time position that can be based in one of our Greater Toronto Area offices (Markham or Mississauga). This position is for a newly created position.
In this role, you will serve as Lead Engineer on municipal drinking water and wastewater projects, overseeing water and wastewater pumping systems, linear infrastructure, and civil site development for treatment facilities. You’ll contribute across the full project lifecycle—from planning and feasibility through detailed design and construction—on medium to large-scale infrastructure programs.
The ideal candidate brings a strong track record delivering municipal water and wastewater pumping stations and conveyance infrastructure, with experience supporting facility site and conveyance elements. You are self-directed and accountable for schedule, budget, quality, and regulatory compliance, with a commitment to safety-by-design and effective stakeholder communication. This role also offers the opportunity to lead and mentor junior staff while supporting their growth and project delivery responsibilities.
This role offers a clear growth path, including participation in AECOM’s Project Manager Certification Program with progression into project management, as well as opportunities to advance into a people leadership role.
The responsibilities of this position include:
+ Maintain technical knowledge of water and wastewater conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment.
+ Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
+ Work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members and clients.
+ Be a senior technical resource serving as technical advisor for team. Mentor and lead less experienced EITs as delegates to their work.
+ Communicate effectively with stakeholders to build a strong relationship of trust and understanding.
+ Work closely with the project manager and other discipline engineers as a key player in leading the design delivery.
+ Regular reporting on budget, schedule and quality performance for the project.
+ Complete designs within local standards, including making informed decisions on which standard to follow where there are conflicts and communicate and document the decision, engaging stakeholders as required.
+ Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
+ Complete and oversee the completion of technical reports, calculations, and undertake design decisions.
+ Prepare technical specifications, tender documents, and review design drawings.
+ Assist in conducting technical quality reviews of deliverables.
+ Liaison with the disciplines to coordinate design efforts. Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
+ Conduct periodic site visits during design and construction.
+ Provide continuity through the complete project, from design through construction.
+ Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
+ Participates in business development and project proposals.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree 8+ years of related Project Management experience in design and construction of municipal water and wastewater projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Registered as a P.Eng in the province of ON (or ability to register within 6 months)
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 15+ years of related experience with conveyance work associated with drinking water and water treatment facilities
+ Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
+ Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as effective report writing.
**Additional Information**
+ Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $125000 to $165000.
