This job contributes to REI’s success by planning, developing, managing and implementing medium to large cross-divisional, multi-year projects using a structured project management methodology within REI’s Search teams. Projects have both a business and a technology focus. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission. 

 

Your Planning & Navigating Requirements (the plans the job is responsible for creating and executing, and how the job ensures they are implemented) 

 

Initiates, plans, controls and closes medium to large cross-divisional, multi-year projects utilizing REI’s project management methodology. 

Advocates and evolves REI’s project management methodology. 

Plans the project in detail, develops project budget, organizes the project team and works with resource managers to acquire and schedule resources. 

Manages the progress of the project and communicates the project status to management and stakeholders on a regular basis. 

Ensures that overall project deliverables are completed, including project charter, project plan, project schedule, requirements, design, development, testing, implementation, policies and procedures, new standards, contracts, risks and issues lists. 

Ensures project quality and success through management of project action items, including managing risks and issues, the decision process, initiating change requests, meeting schedule milestones, resource management, and financial planning and control. 

Identifies, evaluates and manages cross-project interdependencies. 

May act as a source for direction, coaching, training, and guidance for less experienced departmental staff. 

Participation in strategic roadmap planning for business area. 

May facilitate and provide materials for Portfolio review meetings. 

Experience with 3rd party search vendors such as Constructor or Lucidworks is highly preferred. 

 


Responsibilities and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration or related field, or equivalent training and experience.PMI PMP and/or Scrum Master Certification preferred.5+ years experience managing medium to large cross-divisional, multi-year projects with both a business and a technology focus.5+ years building and leading teams.Experience working with a structured project management methodology.Builds effective partnerships with the Project Sponsor and stakeholders.  Builds rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization.Develops a deep knowledgeable of the business within assigned domain.Familiarity with the project scope and objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member.  Communicates and reinforces roles and responsibilities.Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI.Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach informed, risk-aware and consensus-based business decisions.Ability to make sound decisions when faced with ambiguity and uncertainty.Considers the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers.Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work.Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals.Clearly conveys and accurately receives information by a variety of methods and in various situations.Acts upon opportunities and involves and influences others in the accomplishment of worthwhile organizational goals.Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change.Selects appropriate leadership approach, depending on project circumstances and team.Understands preferred thinking and working styles of others is able to adapt and influence to maximize positive outcomes.Demonstrates effective listening in order to effectively inform consensus decisions.Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple assignments.Ability to frame up and structure project scope and objectives when dealing with ambiguity and competing requirements.Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new domain knowledge in order to effectively serve varying business needs or groups.

Pay Range

$113,200.00 - $181,100.00 per year
