About this RolePAR Electrical Contractors, LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager II – Transmission & Substation to lead the successful delivery of high-voltage transmission line and substation construction projects in the Columbus, Ohio region.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through closeout while ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, cost control, and client satisfaction. You will work closely with field leadership, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to deliver utility infrastructure projects that power communities safely and reliably.
What You'll Do Lead Project ExecutionManage transmission (69kV–500kV) and substation construction projects from award through final turnover.
Oversee pre-construction planning, scheduling, procurement, construction execution, commissioning, and closeout.
Partner with Superintendents and field teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality construction.
Conduct constructability reviews and assist with estimating and work planning efforts.
Champion Safety & CompliancePromote and enforce PAR Electric’s safety culture and OSHA compliance.
Conduct site visits and participate in safety meetings and reviews.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, contract requirements, and utility standards.
Manage Financial PerformanceDevelop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, and productivity tracking.
Monitor labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs.
Review and approve invoices, change orders, and purchase orders.
Identify risks early and implement corrective action plans to protect project margins.
Drive Schedule & Resource PlanningDevelop and maintain detailed project schedules using approved scheduling tools.
Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material deliveries to meet milestones.
Proactively resolve schedule conflicts and field challenges.
Serve as Client LiaisonAct as the primary point of contact for clients, inspectors, and stakeholders.
Lead project meetings and provide clear status reporting.
Manage scope changes, negotiate change orders, and maintain strong client relationships.
Ensure Documentation & QualityOversee RFIs, submittals, daily reports, change management, and project closeout documentation.
Maintain accurate reporting in company project management systems.
Ensure quality control processes are followed throughout construction.
What You'll Bring Experience & Technical Knowledge5–8+ years of experience in transmission and/or substation construction.
Proven experience managing utility-scale infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of high-voltage construction methods, sequencing, and safety requirements.
Experience managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and cross-functional project teams.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, contracts, and technical specifications.
Leadership & Communication SkillsDemonstrated ability to lead field and office teams effectively.
Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to make sound decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Tools & SystemsProficiency in construction management and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, or similar systems).
Strong reporting and project controls capabilities.
Education & CredentialsBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel to project sites within Ohio and surrounding regions as required.
