The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within scope, and within budget. Responsibilities + Lead and manage projects involving directional drilling for underground utility installations (e.g., fiber, electrical, water, gas). + Coordinate with clients, internal teams, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project requirements and timelines are met. + Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations. + Oversee daily operations at job sites, including safety compliance, crew management, and equipment use. + Ensure all directional drilling operations comply with industry regulations, company standards, and environmental guidelines. + Review and interpret project blueprints, specifications, and permits. + Prepare and present progress reports, cost tracking, and other documentation to senior management and stakeholders. + Troubleshoot and resolve technical and logistical issues on site. + Conduct job site inspections to monitor work quality, progress, and safety. + Manage procurement of materials, tools, and equipment specific to directional drilling projects. + Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement among project teams. Qualifications + **Minimum 5 years** of project management experience in the utility construction industry, including **3+ years of hands-on experience with directional drilling.** + Proven ability to manage multiple field crews and subcontractors across various job sites. + Strong understanding of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment, techniques, and safety practices. + Experience with utility permitting, site planning, and DOT/state/local regulations. + Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. + Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar). + Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications. + Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards. + Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus. + PMP certification or equivalent is preferred but not required. **Education:** + Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. **Working Conditions:** + Split between office and field environments. + Travel to job sites as needed. + Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around construction equipment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.
