Our rich diversity of people and ideas makes us a stronger, more innovative organization. **Job Summary** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced **Project Manager** with a strong background in **directional drilling** to oversee and manage utility installation projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within scope, and within budget. Responsibilities + Lead and manage projects involving directional drilling for underground utility installations (e.g., fiber, electrical, water, gas). + Coordinate with clients, internal teams, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project requirements and timelines are met. + Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations. + Oversee daily operations at job sites, including safety compliance, crew management, and equipment use. + Ensure all directional drilling operations comply with industry regulations, company standards, and environmental guidelines. + Review and interpret project blueprints, specifications, and permits. + Prepare and present progress reports, cost tracking, and other documentation to senior management and stakeholders. + Troubleshoot and resolve technical and logistical issues on site. + Conduct job site inspections to monitor work quality, progress, and safety. + Manage procurement of materials, tools, and equipment specific to directional drilling projects. + Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement among project teams. Qualifications + **Minimum 5 years** of project management experience in the utility construction industry, including **3+ years of hands-on experience with directional drilling.** + Proven ability to manage multiple field crews and subcontractors across various job sites. + Strong understanding of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment, techniques, and safety practices. + Experience with utility permitting, site planning, and DOT/state/local regulations. + Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. + Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar). + Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications. + Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards. + Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus. + PMP certification or equivalent is preferred but not required. **Education:** + Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. **Working Conditions:** + Split between office and field environments. + Travel to job sites as needed. + Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around construction equipment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is primarily sedentary, with some filing or lifting required.
