Project Manager (Construction)
Job Title: Project Manager II Location: Welch/Red Wing, MN Contract Duration: 12-Months Compensation: $62.00 hourly Contractor Work Model: Onsite System One is seeking Project Manager II to support capital facilities and construction projects at one of its nuclear generating facilities. This role delivers upgrades, equipment replacements, building/facility modifications, long?term plan development, and other capital improvements. Projects typically range from $100K to multi?million?dollar investment levels and require strict adherence to nuclear, regulatory, and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities: + Manage full lifecycle (“cradle?to?grave”) execution of facilities, construction, and capital improvement projects. + Develop and maintain scopes of work, schedules, budgets, long?term project plans, and funding requests. + Lead project controls activities including cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, documentation, and reporting. + Interface daily with plant stakeholders: engineering, maintenance, operations, supply chain, controls, finance, and leadership. + Manages 5–10 concurrent projects, coordinating internal stakeholders, engineering, maintenance, construction, contractors, and vendors while ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management requirements. + Source, contract, manage, and coordinate suppliers and external contractors. + Prepare and deliver project presentations to leadership, including authorization and funding approvals. + Conduct field walkdowns and plant observations for risk mitigation, constructability, and issue resolution. + Support risk management, quality assurance, safety compliance, and nuclear regulatory expectations. Required Qualifications: + 5–7 years of facilities, construction, utility, power plant, or commercial nuclear power project management experience. + Demonstrated success managing projects ? $1M. + Strong financial acumen and experience with project controls and variance analysis. + Familiarity with PMI/PMBOK (Waterfall/Predictive) methodologies. + Ability to obtain unescorted nuclear access, which includes: + Federal background investigation + Fitness for Duty testing (drug & alcohol) + Compliance with NRC Access Authorization requirements + U.S. citizenship (required). Preferred Qualifications: + Construction or Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Nuclear) from an ABET accredited program. + Commercial nuclear or utility/power plant experience. + Experience with SAP, Oracle Unifier, Workday/UKG, MS Project, or Primavera P6. Work Environment & Schedule: Primarily onsite at the assigned nuclear facility (Prairie Island or Monticello). Typical hours: 40 hrs/week, standard business hours. Outage periods require 60 hrs/week, often 12 hour days, 6–7 days/week.
