A new opportunity has arisen for a skilled Project Manager like you, to oversee and bring expertise to our team.

As a Project Manager at mtu Malaysia, you will serve as the primary contact for customer projects from contract signing through to installation, commissioning, and handover. You will work closely with regional and global teams, ensuring seamless execution of projects within budget, scope, and timelines.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems is headquartered in Friedrichshafen in southern Germany and employs around 9,000 people. The product portfolio includes mtu-brand high-speed engines and propulsion systems for ships, power generation, heavy land, rail and defense vehicles and for the oil and gas industry as well as diesel and gas systems and battery containers for mission critical, standby and continuous power, combined generation of heat and power, and microgrids.

Key Accountabilities

General

Act as the “Face to the Customer” from contract signature to commissioning and handover.Serve as on-site lead, ensuring project success.Collaborate with regional and global teams to manage customer relationships.

Project Execution

Drive, plan and monitor all project phases to ensure timely delivery, budget compliance, and quality.Lead project meetings, ensuring stakeholder accountability and engagement.Coordinate resources and communicate expectations to enhance efficiency.Track and manage project costs and budget control.Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.Provide customers with regular, clear updates on project progress.Balance customer expectations with project objectives.Conduct regular internal reviews and generate project reports.

Stakeholder and Supplier Coordination

Support cost estimation and project scoping during tenders.Coordinate with APAC hub and be accountable for execution quality.Present monthly updates during steering committee meetings.Align project scope, including local balance-of-plant, with Sales and Execution teams.Manage local suppliers and ensure integration with genset installation/testing.Lead and resolve customer issues during commissioning.Oversee site manager performance through project completion.

Leadership and Governance

Lead and mentor the project team to achieve excellence.Communicate business strategies and project goals effectively.Ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and corporate standards.Represent the company in engagements with external stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities

Occasional overseas travel.Stay updated on best practices in project management.Perform special assignments as required.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine Engineering, or a related field.At least 5–8 years of experience in project management, preferably in power generation, marine, or industrial sectors.Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects from end-to-end.Strong understanding of engine systems, gensets, and balance-of-plant equipment.Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in a regional/global context.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities.PMP certification or equivalent is an added advantage.Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
