Project Manager – Substation Construction
A specialized electrical construction company based in Orange County, CA is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the execution and delivery of high-voltage substation construction projects ranging from 12kV to 230kV. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and leader, capable of managing cross-functional teams and serving as the primary point of contact for clients, utilities, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of substation construction projects.
+ Develop and maintain project schedules, forecasts, and resource plans.
+ Manage subcontractors, vendors, field staff, and engineering support teams.
+ Oversee project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and cost control.
+ Ensure compliance with utility standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
+ Maintain strong communication with clients, inspectors, and regulatory authorities.
+ Conduct progress meetings and report project status to internal leadership and stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
+ 5–10 years of experience managing substation or utility-scale electrical construction projects.
+ Strong understanding of transmission, distribution, and high-voltage electrical construction practices.
+ Proficiency in project management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, and Bluebeam.
+ Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage schedules, budgets, and personnel effectively.
+ OSHA 30 certification and CPR/First Aid required.
+ PMP certification or PE license is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Construction Engineering—or equivalent field experience.
+ Experience working with utility clients and regulatory agencies.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
