Manages the review and approval process for assigned electrical projects within the Office of Planning, Design & Construction, and oversee the successful implementation and construction of completed designs. Determines which workflow applies to the project through assessing scope, cost, and complexity and initiates appropriate routing of project and applies policies and processes for initiating various internal and external agency approvals, selection, internal or State Facility Planning and Control management requirements, bidding requirements, etc. Serves as the University’s representative for assigned electrical projects and during disputes between the contractor, architect, and/or University. Tracks and reports project costs, schedules, job delays, and approves and processes change orders and payment requests as needed.(40%) Design Standards - Assists PDC Electrical Project Manager 3 in maintenance of Campus Electrical Design Standards. Reviews electrical construction design documents prepared by outside designers for compliance with Campus Electrical Design Standards, general intent for the campus electrical systems, conformance with all applicable codes and standards, and safety and maintainability. Works with contracted outside designers to develop electrical system designs that meet the Campus Electrical Design Standards and campus goals for large and complex projects.(35%) Design - For campus electrical projects and surveillance camera projects designed in-house, communicates directly with users and prepares estimates, drawings and specifications to provide modifications and renovations on campus facilities utilizing in-house personnel and outside contractors. Determines compliance with all applicable building codes, particularly the National Electrical Code, for projects designed in-house. Contracts with outside consultants for design services and manages electrical projects designed by outside consultants from initial design phases through construction to project close-out. Performs other duties as assigned. (20%) Electrical Technical Support- Assists PDC Electrical Project Manager 3 with electrical engineering technical support for Facility Services and other departments on campus extending from low voltage systems to the campus medium voltage utility systems. Provides support to Facility Services during power outages and emergencies to maintain campus power systems.(5%) Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in a related field with a preference for a degree in Electrical Engineering 3 years of electrical management experience Experience with the NEC, building construction codes and State Fire Marshal requirements in regard to electrical design. Minimum Certifications/Licenses Valid Driver's License Job Duties and Other Information Preferred Qualifications 5 years electrical project management Experience in power distribution, lighting, controls, life safety systems, fire alarm systems, telecommunications systems, special systems and medium voltage electrical systems is desirable. Preferred Certifications/Licenses Professional Licensure in Electrical Engineering, or must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and be on track for professional licensure Provides professional electrical engineering and oversight in the development of electrical projects and campus surveillance camera system projects. Reviews all electrical design documents by contracted electrical design firms and outside designers. Prepares estimates for campus construction projects. Responsible for electrical in-house design projects, including coordination, scheduling and oversight of projects.
