Security Access Control Automation Project Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Project Manager to lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of security access control and automation projects. This role involves managing the full project lifecycle, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that all systems are implemented efficiently, securely, and in compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the planning and implementation of access control and automation projects, including electronic security systems. (Example: Speed-gates, Turnstiles, and Tripods) Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors for flawless execution. Oversee installation, configuration, and integration of access control systems. Ensure compliance with security standards, regulations, and client requirements. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies. Monitor and report on project progress, adjusting plans as needed. Provide technical guidance and support to team members and clients. Manage documentation, including system designs, change orders, and close-out packages.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Security Management, or related field. PMP or equivalent project management certification in leu of degree is acceptable. 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in security systems or automation. Strong knowledge of access control systems a plus. Familiarity with networking, low-voltage systems, and system integration. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of Automatic Door Systems: Familiarity with speed-gates, turnstiles, and tripods. Understanding of Low-Voltage Electrical Systems: Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and coordinate with electricians and technicians. Experience with Access Control Integration: Knowledge of how automatic doors interface with security systems, including badge readers and fire alarm systems. Blueprint & CAD Interpretation: Ability to read architectural drawings and use tools like AutoCAD or Bluebeam. Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of ADA, ANSI/BHMA standards, and local building codes.

Project Management Skills

Scheduling & Time Management: Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Project or Smartsheet to manage timelines and milestones. Budgeting & Cost Control: Experience in estimating, tracking, and managing project budgets. Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Ability to manage relationships and schedules with installers, suppliers, and subcontractors. Risk Management: Identifying potential delays or issues and implementing mitigation strategies.

Soft Skills

Communication & Leadership: Clear communication with clients, installers, and internal teams; ability to lead cross-functional teams. Problem-Solving: Quick thinking and adaptability when facing installation challenges or site conditions. Customer Service Orientation: Ensuring client satisfaction through proactive updates and issue resolution. Attention to Detail: Precision in documentation, installation specs, and compliance checks.
