This role is responsible for the successful execution of capital projects on the Toronto site, specifically Tier 3 projects (<5M Euros). This role manages external resources, including daily management, forecasting, and sourcing to ensure project milestones are met on time and on budget. Incumbent will ensure supervision of all relevant project activities either directly or via external resource support. Compliance with local and global HSE, Quality, Engineering and Financial requirements will be incorporated into all work performed.

Main Responsibilities:

Budgeting 15%

Create initial budget based on Sponsor’s stated needs

Challenge assumptions and generate alternatives to be assessed

Forecast spend and work with site PC team to ensure accuracy of data in Shine and spendtracker

 

Planning & Scheduling 20%

Create and manage project schedule

Perform analysis on project deliverables, identifying critical path items and other constraints (e.g. resources) to ensure satisfactory delivery of all project deliverables as committed

Plan with project sponsor based on business needs including external factors such as strategic initiatives, commercial production, etc.

Push all stakeholders to embrace Play-to-Win methodology and ensure scope and schedule are reasonable, efficient, and the right use of the business’ resources

 

Resource Management 10%

Work closely with ETS RMO to ensure correct current capacity and forecasted demand in resource plan for assigned projects

Work cross-functionally to support the site when and where it is needed, including sharing resources with other Engineering areas

 

Execution 35%

Supervise project activities|

Perform safety walkthroughs when and where appropriate

Lead decision making when new information becomes available

Support contract enforcement and quality assurance of work provided by vendors

Lead troubleshooting teams when multiple SME’s and other stakeholders are needed to address an unplanned and critical problem.

 

Communication 10%

Support Sponsor engagement including regular updates at general SteerCo’s

Proactively bring in relevant stakeholders to prevent escalations where possible

Where necessary, escalate to appropriate stakeholders effectively and at the right time

Support Engineering team for any data needed on ETS or Site KPIs

 

Continuous Improvement 5%

Contribute to structural improvements in ways of working in the ETS team

Support maintenance of best practices within the team

                                                                   

HSE REQUIREMENT/STATEMENT

Works within the policies, procedures and regulations as required by the Company and under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

CONTEXT OF THE JOB/MAJOR CHALLENGES

Project scopes will be simple to complex, with potentially conflicting priorities and difficult schedule constraints. The Project Engineering Lead is accountable for their projects and what is best for the site. Scrutiny will be applied by C&M Portfolio lead on a regular basis as well as through Engineering Project departmental KPIs, timelines will often be challenging. Cross-functional collaboration, consistent challenging of status quo and diligent time and resource management are key to success in this role.

DIMENSIONS/SCOPE

E2E PL role for local Tier 3 projects (i.e. <5M Euros) on the Toronto site

Approx. 3 to 15 projects in various stages of execution at any given time, with higher workloads supported via external resources.

About You

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education/Certifications

University degree such as Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering

PMP certified, PMI Agile certification or equivalent is a preferred.

Experience

3+ years' experience in managing projects in challenging environment preferably in pharmaceutical industry and/or manufacturing environment.

Competencies

Demonstrated leadership experience

Strong organizational skills, time management and ability to deal with conflicting priorities

Strong interpersonal skills

MS Office including Project, SAP, Geode+, Phenix, general ability to adapt to new software tools

71,100.00 - 121,100.00 (Includes target bonus)
