Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Project Engineer – Bridges and Roads (Saudi National) to join our team! In this role you will get to play technical contributor to the airport infrastructure project, ensuring that roadways, bridges, and associated civil structures are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Technical Oversight and Design Coordination:
Review and validate designs for roads, bridges, and related civil structures to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulatory codes.
Coordinate with design consultants and contractors to resolve technical issues and ensure constructability of design packages.
Provide value engineering input to optimize structural and roadway designs for safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
2. Construction Supervision and Site Support:
Monitor construction activities related to bridges and roadworks to ensure quality control, adherence to drawings, and safety standards.
Support field engineers and site supervisors in interpreting technical drawings and resolving field-level challenges.
Ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, and project milestones for road and bridge components.
3. Interface and Stakeholder Coordination:
Coordinate with other disciplines (utilities, airside, drainage, geotechnical) to manage interfaces and avoid construction conflicts.
Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and regulatory authorities for approvals and technical discussions.
Participate in coordination meetings to align scope, design changes, and construction priorities.
4. Quality Assurance and Documentation:
Support the implementation of quality assurance/control procedures related to civil works, including inspection and testing plans.
Review method statements, ITPs, and material submittals specific to bridge and road construction.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of site progress, technical issues, non-conformances, and resolution reports.
5. Schedule and Progress Monitoring:
Monitor the execution of work against schedule targets, identify risks or delays, and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with planning and scheduling teams to align bridge and roadwork deliverables with the overall project schedule.
Provide regular technical progress updates and support reporting requirements.
6. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
Promote strict adherence to HSE standards in all bridge and roadwork activities.
Participate in safety audits and risk assessments specific to heavy civil construction areas.
Support the implementation of mitigation measures for high-risk activities, such as bridge erection or traffic diversions.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in large infrastructure projects, with demonstrated expertise in bridges and roadway construction.
Prior experience in airport or transport infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
Proven background in managing multi-discipline coordination, technical resolution, and construction monitoring.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong technical knowledge of bridge design and construction (cast-in-situ, precast, post-tensioned structures, etc.).
Familiarity with international codes and standards (AASHTO, BS, Eurocodes).
Proficiency in using engineering tools and software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MIDAS, STAAD.Pro, or equivalent.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
Sound understanding of construction health and safety regulations.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Chartered Engineer or working toward professional certification (e.g., MICE, P.E., PMP).
Experience working with Design-Build or EPC contractors.
Knowledge of airport-specific civil engineering challenges (e.g., airside access roads, taxiway bridges).
Experience with project controls tools and documentation systems (e.g., Aconex, Primavera).
Capability to manage change control and participate in technical evaluation of variations.
