Job Summary:
The Project Engineer plays a critical role in designing, validating, and sustaining mechanical and electrical components for industrial products. This position focuses on product development, compliance, quality improvement, and process enhancements with a strong emphasis on mechanical and electrical engineering principles. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Shipping, and Sales & Marketing, to ensure successful outcomes. The Project Engineer will also engage directly with customers and internal stakeholders to align technical requirements and deliver robust engineering solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
Mechanical/Electrical Product Design, Development, and Sustainment
Lead engineering projects from concept through completion, focusing on mechanical and electrical systems.Provide regular status updates (daily, weekly, monthly) to stakeholders.Translate customer specifications into mechanical/electrical design requirements and coordinate prototype testing under real-world service conditions.Oversee activities related to bill of materials (BOM) creation, product costing, and product change requests (PCR).Collaborate with engineering teams to perform tolerance analysis, material selection, and validate prototypes using CAD tools and electrical schematics.Work closely with the quality team to address customer concerns and manage product returns.Engineering Performance & Application Analysis
Analyze product performance data for mechanical and electrical systems to ensure reliability and compliance.Track and report progress for designated verticals in regular team meetings.Gather technical requirements for new opportunities by engaging directly with customers and sales teams, including occasional on-site visits to observe applications.Support the Product Management team with data analysis and market research to guide product strategy and identify growth opportunities.Technical Sales & Customer Support
Maintain strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical components, industrial applications, and manufacturing processes.Evaluate technologies and solutions for new or modified products, developing engineering concepts and recommendations for customer review.Respond promptly and thoroughly to customer inquiries via phone and email for designated product lines.Deliver technical presentations and host educational sessions focused on engineering performance and product differentiation.Essential Qualifications / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BSME/BSEE) with at least 2 years of relevant experience OR 5+ years of equivalent industry experience without a degree.Relevant experience or internships in engineering, project management, and/or product development.Familiarity with project management practices, new product development processes, and technical product/application development.Proficiency with engineering tools such as CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) or electrical design tools (Altium, MATLAB).Understanding of industrial marketing, sales principles, and customer engagement.Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective written and verbal communication across diverse stakeholders.Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material properties, and industrial standards.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).Ability to deliver clear and engaging presentations.Technical aptitude combined with sound business judgment.Salary range: $85,000 to $95,000. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
